City Clerk
The City Clerk’s office handles a variety of functions for its
citizens and customers which include the following:
The City Clerk’s office is responsible for preparing City Council agendas, recording all City Council meetings, and the preparation and retention of the official city council minutes. The City Clerk’s office prepares the agenda on Tuesday prior to regular City Council meetings. The agendas are posted to the internet on Tuesday prior to City Council meetings which are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. City Council holds work sessions on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. Please refer to the City Council agenda section of the internet for your review.
The City Clerk maintains the official files for Edgewater and is responsible for researching and providing copies of official actions of the City at the publics' request. The City Code is also maintained by the office and is updated quarterly through codification supplements. The City Clerk's office is responsible for the following licensing: business, home occupation, contractors, liquor, amusement, sales tax, animal, and bicycle.
The City Clerk is the elections official for the City and as such, coordinates and administers all City regular and special elections. In addition, citizen initiated recalls, initiatives and referendums are submitted to the City Clerk and verified for sufficiency by the Clerk and special elections are scheduled and held as necessary. The City Clerk’s office also handles voter registration.
The City Clerk is responsible for the timely publishing of all legal notices in the city’s official newspaper, The Lakewood Sentinel including the first and second reading ordinances, requests for proposals, requests for bids, notice of final settlements, election and other applicable notices.
