Building Permits

If you are planning on doing any changes to your home physically, it is likely that you will need to obtain a building permit from the City. Common permits are usually re-roofs, siding, fencing or general remodel. If you plan to add on to your home or add a garage, you must submit a plot plan and building specifications that meet our building codes. If you have any questions about your plans, you can contact the City Engineer or the City Clerk’s office  at 303-238-7803 x 10 for more information. The cost of the permit is based on the value of the project. The City has adopted the IBC 2003.

Permits - Not Required

Building permits are not required for 1) movable cases, counters and partitions not over 5 feet high, 2) painting, papering, and similar finish work. EMC: 5-19. Basically, building permits are not necessary providing you are not changing any building in a structural way.
