When Edgewater Holds Elections

Edgewater City elections are held every odd numbered year on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. This is the same day as other local, State, and National elections.

Who We Are Electing

At each City election a candidate may either run for the office of Mayor, which has a term of 2 years, or one of at least 4 City Council seats which are at the end of their term. Of those running for City Council seats, the 3 candidates receiving the highest number of votes are elected for a term of office of 4 years. The forth seat and any additional vacancies are filled by the remainder of the candidates receiving the highest number of votes. These candidates are elected for a term of office of 2 years. Please see the following Charter references for further information:

Elections - Art IV, 4.2, Mayor - Art II, 2.1, Council - Art III, 3.2.2.3
