The City of Edgewater, Colorado, is located at the extreme eastern boundary of Jefferson County on the west side of metropolitan Denver just west of Sloan Lake. It is surrounded by the communities of Denver on the east, Lakewood on the west and south, and Wheat Ridge on the north.

Because of its location it affords a spectacular view of the Denver skyline, which is just a ten minute drive away, and residents have easy access to I-25, I-70, and 6th Avenue. This makes Edgewater an ideal place for those wishing to avail themselves of recreational opportunities in the Rocky Mountains or the various commercial, retail and cultural centers in the vicinity.

Edgewater is a small community, approximately one square mile, with a population just over 5000. While it has the conveniences of the nearby big city, it has a small town feeling and atmosphere built on a 100 year heritage.  The community is based on traditional neighborhoods with stately trees, parks,  friendliness, and a sense of security: a real home town for people, young and old.

Edgewater has a  mixture of single and multi family homes and there are several large apartment complexes. There are two elementary schools, one high school, and three churches located in the community.

The commercial areas provide both the community and a larger area around the City with market services.
